4/365 - Travel Bucket List - I
When someone asked me what is your hobby? "I don't have any hobby" that was my answer. Later when I grow up, it was quite embarrassing to say the same. Hence, I would say “Travelling, Travelling is my hobby!”. I did not know that saying the same statement many times, it would be an actual hobby.
This blog contains some of the places that I want to visit. I will cover the places in different parts.
- Elephant Nature Park
Elephant Nature Park is a sanctuary and rescue centre for elephants in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, Northern Thailand, approximately 60 kilometers from Chiang Mai City. It is co-founded by Lek Saengduean Chailert in 1998.
I don’t know why but I love Elephants more than any other wild animal. It may be due to my family worshiping Lord Ganesh. In India, wild Elephants are present only in Kerala and in Kaziranga National Park, Assam. Elephants are known to be the Gods of the forest. They protect the jungle from any harm. But now the gods need human protection. In ancient India, elephants were the main parts of human life. They helped us to transport the goods from one place to another. They also helped us in our war. In fact, we trained them to kill another elephant and they did that. We used them like they are our puppets and what we gave them in return?
Their extinction!
Elephant Nature Park is a place where wounded elephants are treated. After they are completely fine, they keep them in the sanctuary. The best thing about Elephant Nature Park is that we can register as a volunteer for a day to a week. By doing so, we can watch closely how the Gods live. We can feed the gods. We can take them for a walk. We can clean them. In short by volunteering, we can take care of them.
It's the only way to pay respect to them. That’s why I want to visit the park.
Note: It’s paid to volunteer.
