2/365 - Life Lesson - I

Date: 30th November 2019

Venue: Nagpur Railway Station

On 30th November, students of electrical engineering were planning to go for a trip to northern India. The train was scheduled at 20:35 from platform 1. So, all the students gathered at the Nagpur railway station around 20:00. Nagpur railway station is very tumultuous hence it was difficult to spot the group. I followed the sound and hurray!! I found them. On the way, I saw many armed police officers and dogs on the platform. I thought they are waiting for some VIP.  We ignored them just like we ignore the YouTube ads because our focus was on tour. We were capturing group photos while waiting for the train. Finally, the moment came….

The train arrived at the station before the scheduled time and the door opened but the staff did not allow us to board the train. We thought that they are cleaning the train hence they stopped boarding. My mind was already on the train and here my body was staring at my reflection in the window.

After the eternal wait of 10 mins, we boarded the train. We placed our luggage under our seats and were waiting for the journey to commence.

Waiting…

Waiting…

Waiting…

We came to know that the police officers are checking each compartment with the colorimetric test kit. The kit is used to determine whether the bomb is present or not. Later, I came to know that the police officers were not waiting for some VIP, they were waiting for our train so that they can check the presence of a bomb on the train. If by any chance there was a bomb in the train then 110 percent, the train would be cancelled and this may harm our trip…

We all were hoping for the situation to get normal. We waited for another one hour to hear “It was a rumor.” That was a relief. And, finally, after the long wait of 90 mins, the train got permission to leave the station. We were super duper excited. We knew that we passed this big hurdle of bomb now no one can stop our tour from happening. And, the train left the station…

Lesson: The situation may seem worse at the start but it does not mean that it’ll be the same till the end. We faced the worse before the tour but at the end of the tour everyone said that “This is the best thing that has happened in their engineering life.” So, just hold tight and the problem will disappear like it was a rumor.
